Should you hire a resume-writer?


Times are tough. These days, competition is fierce for the few cultural resource management, heritage conservation, and historic preservation jobs. Knowing how to write a successful résumé is crucial for your job search. Many of us have thought about hiring a professional résumé-writer or resume-writing service. While this may be totally useful for people working in a great number of job fields, I personally don’t think its that helpful for those of us with cultural resource management or historic preservation jobs.

As you may already know, I’ve helped a number of people write, rewrite, remodel, and optimize their historic preservation résumés with great success. I think this is a completely useful skill that can be learned by any of us.
